COTTONWOOD -- Ryan Fransen pounded the net for 40 points but Renville County West came up just short losing to the Lakeview Lakers 71-67 on Tuesday in Camden Conference basketball.

Fransen 3-point play with nine seconds left in the second half tied the game 67-all. But the Jaguars were called for a foul on the Lakers' inbound and the home team closed out the game making 4 of 4 at the free-throw line.

Fransen had 27 points by halftime with the Jags down 39-36. The 6-foot-3 senior forward sank 13 of 24 shots from the floor and made 10 of 13 at the line. He cashed in on four 3-pointers and also nailed 17 rebounds.

Simon Kjersten added 12 points with 6 rebounds and Tucker Harazin supplied 7 points and 4 assists.

The Lakers' Jamie Unke swished four 3-pointers on the way to scoring 21 points.

Riley Aeikens with 15 points, Corey Abbas and Bailey Boike 13 each, and Alex Wrede and Taylor Thissen 10 each allowed MACCRAY to improve to 12-1 in the conference and 17-5 overall.

The Wolverines shot 54 percent from the field and owned a comfortable 49-26 lead at halftime. Brady Boike pulled in 10 rebounds and Aeikens dished out 7 assists.

Sparking KMS (6-7, 6-13) was Jonah Johnson with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Blake Hagen added 17 points.

Litchfield 63, Orono 62

Litchfield's Zach Whitchurch hit one of two free throws for the lead with 20 seconds left and Orono was unable to get off a shot before the buzzer in a Wright County Conference game Tuesday in Litchfield.

It was the second time Litchfield and Orono, coached by former Bird Island-Lake Lillian star Barry Wohler, played down to the wire. The Dragons defeated Orono 67-65 in overtime on Jan. 10.

Before the game-winning point, Whitchurch had grabbed a rebound and was going back up for a shot when he drew a foul.

Riley Pater led the Dragons with 20 points and Jon Terning had 14. Zach Kinny scored 8 points and had 11 assists.

Wohler's son, Brady, hit six 3-point shots and finished with 30 points.

The Dragons lead the Wright County race with an 11-1 record and will play second-place Delano on Thursday in Litchfield.
