The Cardinals hit just 26 percent from the field, which haunted them at the end of the game when they missed potential game-tying shots on their final two possessions.

“Obviously, we didn’t shoot very well,” said Cardinals head coach Steve Grove. “It wasn’t our night. They’re a very physical team.”

Hutchinson led by six at halftime but the Cardinals kept the game close throughout the second half.

Alex Grove led the Cardinals with 11 points and Kyler Johnson had 10. Austin Rambow had 9 points and 12 rebounds.

Alec Nassirzadeh led the Tigers with 15 points, including 12 on 3-point shots.

The Cardinals play their first home game against St. Cloud Apollo at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
