Boys basketball: Hutchinson edges Willmar

HUTCHINSON — The Willmar Cardinals suffered through a tough shooting night and fell in its season-opening game, 57-54, at Hutchinson on Thursday.

The Cardinals hit just 26 percent from the field, which haunted them at the end of the game when they missed potential game-tying shots on their final two possessions.

“Obviously, we didn’t shoot very well,” said Cardinals head coach Steve Grove. “It wasn’t our night. They’re a very physical team.”
