Boys basketball: Jaguars maul Cubs

BROOTEN — Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa wrapped up its third straight undefeated Central Minnesota Conference championship season and its fifth straight league title overall with a 66, 47 win over Kimball on Friday night.

The Jaguars have now won 57 straight home games and 55 conference games in a row.

BBE’s Brian Goodwin led the team with 19 points and he also had 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals.

Trey Heinsius also played a solid game with 16 points, 5 assists and 6 steals. Billy Borgerding had 11 points and 7 rebounds and James Kuefler led the Jaguars with 9 rebounds.

BBE opens the Section 6A playoff on in Brooten on Thursday against the winner of Monday’s play-in game between Brandon-Evansville and Underwood.

Five Lakers scored in double figures in a non-conference win Friday in Glenwood.

The two teams get another crack at each other soon in the postseason, with Minnewaska traveling to play the Eagles at 7 p.m. Thursday in Eden Valley.

Minnewaska’s Jake Amundson scored 15 points, Austin Ostrander scored 13 and Austin Giese, Isaiah Adams and Jayden Beecher all finished with 11 points. Adams also had 12 rebounds and 4 assists while Ostrander grabbed 9 boards. Giese had 4 assists and 4 steals.

Logan Manska hit four 3-point shots and scored 15 points to led the Morris/Chokio-Alberta boys basketball team to a victory over Benson on Friday in both teams’ regular-season finale.

Austin Dierks scored 9 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and had 4 steals for the Tigers.
