COMFREY — Dawson-Boyd’s Joey Lee scored 25 points (13 of 15 at line) and nabbed 9 rebounds as the Blackjacks tipped Heritage Christian 57-42 in the championship game of the Cedar Mountain/Comfrey Invitational on Saturday.

Melrose edged the Dragons in the St. Cloud Cathedral tournament on Saturday in St. Cloud.

Alex Hendricks hit five 3-point shots and led the Dragons with 19 points. Cody Rau scored 15 points and also had 4 assists and 3 steals.

Montevideo trailed for most of the game Saturday afternoon after shooting only 36 percent from the field. Jordan Thompson had 3 three-pointers en route to scoring a game-high 20 points for the Thunder Hawks, who also got 10 points from Troy Diggins.

Josh Sloniker also scored 20 points for Mankato East, which fired at a 56-percent clip from the field.

Nick Kubesh played a solid game once again, with 23 points and 9 rebounds, in the Warriors’ win in the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted tournament on Saturday.

Tyler Lothert scored 12 points and Austin Tersteeg had 9 points and 6 boards.

(Saturday) — Eric Staebler’s double-double of 18 rebounds and 12 points and Noah Grove’s game-high 21 points sparked the first win of the season for the Tigers in the third-place game.

Springfield owned what seemed to be a comfortable 25-14 lead at halftime, but the Tigers then exploded for 40 points in the second half to snap their eight-game losing streak. Jacob Zosel added 11 points.
