LITCHFIELD — Litchfield built a huge first-half lead and it was a good thing for the Dragons, who saw Holy Family Catholic whittle away at the margin in the second half before falling to Litch 67-59 in a Wright County Conference game Friday.

The Dragons, who improved to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the WCC, led 13-0 before the Fire scored its first basket seven minutes into the game. Litchfield stretch its lead to 24-2 with 6-1/2 minutes to play in the opening half.

But the Fire scored 41 second-half points to nearly dig out of the deep hole.

Zach Whitchurch led the Dragons with 16 and he also had 3 steals. Riley Pater scored 15 points and had 8 rebounds while Zach Kinny had 8 points, 12 assists and 7 rebounds.
