BENSON -- Lac qui Parle Valley outlasted Benson in a barnburner of a West Central South Conference boys basketball showdown, winning 90-88 Friday.

The Eagles (4-3, 5-6) held a 48-39 halftime lead and had two players combine for 18 of 21 from the free-throw line in the second half. Eric Paulson was 10-for-11 and Chase Keimig was 8-for-10.

Keimig, who finished with a game-high 29 points, scored 15 points in the first half to lead the LQPV charge. Cody Jaeger scored 18 of his 28 points to lead the Braves (4-4, 8-7).

In the second half, Benson got to within one point with about five minutes left. The Braves had a last-second attempt to win the game with a three-pointer, but it was blocked.

Paulson added 18 points to the Eagles' total. Jordan Schwarz followed with 14 points and nine rebounds. Ryan Hoium had 10 points.

Brennan Kent scored 20 of his 24 points in the second half to push Benson. Sam Peterson tallied 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Jeff Berens chipped in 11 points.

Zach Whitchurch made a three-pointer with 40 seconds left to cap a 14-point comeback for Litchfield and send the game into overtime. The Dragons then got up by three in the extra session, but Mound-Westonka made its free throws down the stretch to pull out the win.

Brandon Host with 19 points and Matt Daoust with 18 paced Mound-Westonka (5-3, 8-6).

Dominic Devine had 17 points and Derek Koll 15 for the Dragons (1-7, 4-12).
