(Tribune photo by Tom Larson) ACGC guard Taylor Larson is able to drive around Melrose guard Seth Noll but couldn’t convert the shot during the first half of the Falcons’ game against the Dutchmen Thursday in Grove City. Larson made seven 3-pointers on the night to score 21 points, but Melrose’s size was too much for ACGC to overcome as the Dutchmen won 85-70.

Scottie Stone ignited Melrose, unbeaten in the North, with 30 points and 6 assists. Isaac Sawyer followed with 20 points while Ryan Elfering and Mitch Niehaus each added 14. Mitch Reller scored just 4 points, but the 6-foot-5 center hooked 12 rebounds. The bigger Dutchmen (10-1) collected 38 rebounds while ACGC (11-4) managed to pull in only 27.

“They were big inside and we couldn’t match up with their size,” said ACGC coach Terry Miller. “The rebounding was the difference.”

Taylor Larson made seven 3-pointers — five in the first half — to net 21 points for the South-leading Falcons, who were led by Dylan Hoerchler’s 25 points and 12 assists. Logan Jacobs contributed 15 points and 9 rebounds.
