The Cardinals (16-4), ranked No. 9, saw their five-game winning streak end. MVL (21-2) won its 14th consecutive game.

The big factor was Redwood Valley's inability to get to the free-throw line. The Cardinals made only two trips, sinking both. But MVL was 13 of 16 from the charity stripe.

Another was MVL's man-to-man defense, which held Mike Felt, the area's leading scorer and three-point shooter, to 20 points and two treys.

J.T. Radel led the Cardinals with 24 points and Sam Knudsen added 10. Felt pulled down nine rebounds and Brian Kohler dished out seven assists.
