Boys Basketball: Monte bashes Lake Crystal-WM 66-47

GRANITE FALLS -- Jake Douglas' game-high 23 points paced a group of three players that scored in double figures for Montevideo on Thursday as the Thunder Hawks soared past Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial 66-47 to advance to the Section 3AA North final.

The No. 2-seeded Thunder Hawks (22-5) will get another chance at top-seeded Redwood Valley (25-1) as the two will meet at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall in the sub-section championship. The Cardinals beat Montevideo 60-54 on their home court on Jan. 19.

The Cardinals won their 10th straight on Thursday by taking out BOLD 58-42.

Colton Vien added 15 points and Brett Bergeson another 10 for Montevideo, which shot 56 percent from the field. Vien also hooked 7 rebounds, Douglas 6 and Kyle TeBeest 6 more. TeBeest (6) and Bergeson (5) combined to hand out 11 assists.
