Boys Basketball: Morris/CA drubs Monte for 15th straight victory

MORRIS -- A run late in the first half enabled Morris/Chokio-Alberta to give itself some breathing room as the Tigers upended Montevideo 68-40 in a West Central South Conference boys basketball game Thursday.

The win kept Morris/Chokio-Alberta, No. 2 in the latest Class AA poll, unbeaten and one game ahead of Minnewaska in the conference standings.

Lincoln Arnold netted 19 points and Cory Hennen pumped in 16 for the Tigers. Jackson Henrich sparked the defense with seven rebounds and five blocks.

Eleven players scored for the Thunder Hawks (7-3, 8-7) with Ryan Boike's seven points leading the balanced attack.

The Lakers (9-1, 10-3) shot a torrid 61 percent from the field and won their sixth straight game, boosted by a 51-point first half.

Shane Bosek pumped in 26 points, Jake Mikkelson added 18 points and Ben Peters notched 10 points. Mike Whittemore dished out nine assists.

For ACGC (0-9, 1-14), Trever Heining and Mitchell Tauer had 18 points apiece.

Aaron Johnson pulled down 20 of the Wildcats' 57 rebounds to lead the team. He also had 10 points. Aaron Jenny scored 19 points and grabbed 12 boards, Justin Zylstra had 16 points and Erik Tengwall contributed 12 points, eight assists and five steals.

Brandon Krel's 15 points paced the Wolves.
