Morris/Chokio-Alberta was the only one of three West Central South Conference boys basketball teams playing in Section 6AA-West to advance Thursday night.

Morris/CA stymied Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 72-42, while Minnewaska fell to West Central Area 67-55 and Benson succumbed to Staples-Motley 80-58.

Morris/CA 72, LPGE 42

No. 1-seed Morris/CA brought out the long ammunition, making a season-high 10 three-pointers out of 18 attempts.

Cory Hennen sank five treys and finished with 19 points. Alex Erickson canned four 3-pointers and had 14 points. Lincoln Arnold added 10 points.

Duane Miller and Jake Kingston had seven points each for the Thunder.

Staples-Motley, the No. 2 seed, had Jon Bristow lead the way in the first half with 18 points, then Jordan Riewer totaled 16 in the second half. Bristow finished with 25 points and Riewer had 19.

Brennan Kent sank three 3-pointers and ended up with 15 points for Benson. Cody Jaeger added 12 points. Jake Hanson grabbed seven rebounds.

The Knights, the No. 5 seed, led from the start and didn't let the Lakers get closer than eight points in the second half.

Beau Kashmark and Sam Richards led West Central with 16 points each. Colten Blasyck followed with 14 and Bryce Olson had 12.

Shane Bosek scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Minnewaska. Brady Johnsrud added 14 points and Ben Peters had 11.
