Boys Basketball: NL-Spicer surges past ACGC, 91-59

NEW LONDON -- New London-Spicer exploded for 52 second-half points to beat Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 91-59 in non-conference boys basketball Monday.

The Wildcats (9-5) went on a 24-4 run in the second half to blow the game open.

Thirteen players scored at least one point for the Wildcats, led by Erik Tengwall's 19. Austen Lothert followed with 14, Jay Moten 13 and Aaron Johnson 12. Tengwall also collected nine rebounds and eight assists, and Justin Zylstra pulled down 11 rebounds.

Joel Slinden netted 16 points and had eight rebounds for the Falcons (8-4). Jordan Tanner added 10 points.

Dominic Devine had 18 points and nine rebounds as Litchfield (5-9) won its third straight game.

Pierce Peters exploded for 33 points and 12 rebounds and Minnewaska's interior defense improved in the second half as the Lakers snapped a three-game skid.

YME 52, Lakeview 50

YME overcame a couple of mistakes to win the battle of winless teams.

First, the Sting turned the ball over with 6.4 seconds left and holding a 52-49 lead. Then, YME fouled a Lakeview (0-12) three-point shooter, giving him three shots. The first went in and the other two didn't. On the third shot, Lakeview missed a chance to tip the ball in for the win.

Taylor Olson scored 11 points and Brian Rosenau had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Sting (1-9).
