BROOTEN — Brian Goodwin’s game-high 30 points helped fuel Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa’s seventh straight win Monday as the Jaguars outlasted New London-Spicer 77-64 in a non-conference tilt.

BBE, now 14-1, is the top-ranked team in Class A while NLS, stuck in a losing streak that is now at four, is No. 10 in the latest Class AA QRF rankings.

The Jaguars was in front for majority of the game before the Wildcats grabbed a 53-52 lead midway through the second half. But BBE went on a 24-11 lead run to end the game and drop NLS to 8-4 overall.

Goodwin scored 18 points in the first half and was 12-for-13 at the free throw line for the game. The senior guard also supplied the Jaguars with 4 assists and 3 steals.

Billy Borgerding added 15 points, Tanner Heinsius 13 and James Kuefler another 10.

Kuefler grabbed a game-high 8 rebounds while Trey Heinsius pocketed 5 assists and 3 steals.

Shane Zylstra’s 17 points led a group of three Wildcats that scored in double figures. Brett Olson followed with 15 and Tyson Gislason 11. Ryan Vraa piled up 6 assists and 4 steals with Olson also pulling down a team-high 6 rebounds.

NLS is at Dassel-Cokato (2-11) today for a Wright County Conference game and BBE is off until Thursday when it hosts Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted (11-4) in a Central Minnesota Conference contest.
