Boys Basketball: Paynesville stymies ACGC to keep pace in South race

PAYNESVILLE -- Jamison Wall led a group of five players that scored in double figures for Paynesville with 23 points as the Bulldogs kept pace in a tight West Central South Conference boys basketball race by upending Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 81-66 Tuesday.

Paynesville improved to 8-2 in the conference while Morris stands at 9-2 and Montevideo 7-2. The Bulldogs are at Montevideo on Friday.

Trailing Wall was Nathan Nietfield with 17 points, Mitchell Marlow 16, Nathan Friederichs 13 and Tanner Wendroth 11.

Jordan Tanner and Jeff Peterson both drained four 3-pointers and scored 19 points apiece to pace the Falcons (6-5, 11-8). Kurtis Huisman added 11 points.

Baxter DuFrane and Chase Keimig scored 20 points each to lead the Eagles (4-7, 6-11). Tronn Tosel added 14 points and six rebounds.

Taylor Olson made four 3-pointers and scored 16 points for the Sting (0-10, 1-14). Anton Leiseth added 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Brian Rosenau also had seven boards.
