Boys Basketball Playoffs: Four area teams win 3A, 3AA openers
Montevideo and BOLD both won Section 3AA North Sub-Section playoff games on Saturday, and, as expected, Camden Conference co-champs Dawson-Boyd and MACCRAY won their first-round games in the 3A North Sub-Section.
In 3AA North, Montevideo defeated Lac qui Parle Valley 73-28 while BOLD downed Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 53-49. Yellow Medicine East fell to Lake Crystal-Wellcome 83-58, and Redwood Valley had little trouble with Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, winning 73-34.
Lake Crystal-Wellcome (21-6) plays Monte (21-5) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and BOLD (14-10) and Redwood Valley (24-1) meet at 6 p.m. Thursday.
In 3A North, Dawson-Boyd eased past Lakeview 74-47 while MACCRAY took care of Renville County West 74-36 on Saturday. Central Minnesota Christian's season came to an end in a 68-64 loss to Ortonville. In the other sub-section game, Lincoln HI defeated Canby 73-63.
Dawson-Boyd (24-2), which is on a 16-game winning streak, plays Lincoln HI (11-10) at 6 p.m. Thursday and MACCRAY (21-6) and Ortonville (15-9) play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Both games are at Southwest Minnesota State.
