Boys basketball roundup: BBE wins 40th straight

BROOTEN — Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa won its 40th game in a row with a 63-47 win over Eden Valley-Watkins in their first conference game on Tuesday in Brooten.

The defending Class A champion Jaguars are 7-0 overall this season.

Brian Goodwin scored a game-high 27 points and James Kuefler posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Billy Borgerding contributed 17 points and had 3 steals.

The Jaguars next play Friday for a non-conference game at Minnewaska.

Bailey Boike had 20 points and Taylor Thissen 19 to lead the Wolverines over the Bluejays in a Camden Conference game Tuesday.

MACCRAY improved to 3-1 in the league and 5-1 overall. Central Minnesota Christian dropped to 2-2 in the Camden and 2-4 overall. The Bluejays play next at Renville County West on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

GROVE CITY — Taylor Larson scored 19 points and Jacob Belgum and Dylan Hoerchler added 18 more each to propel Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City past BOLD 74-43 Tuesday in a West Central South Conference game.

The Falcons (3-0, 5-1) owned a slim 29-27 lead at halftime before picking up the defensive pressure to create more turnovers in the second half to turn the game into a rout.

ACGC was 6-for-8 from three-point range in the second half en route to putting 45 points on the scoreboard in the final 18 minutes of play. Larson, Belgum and Hoerchler all drained a couple of treys while Jordan Nelson canned another, his only basket of the game.

Belgum added a game-high 11 rebounds and Hoerchler amassed 7 assists and 6 steals.

Trent Athmann with 12 points was the only Warrior (1-1, 3-2) to score in double figures. Tyler Rock added 9 points and 3 steals, and Lucas Wertish 8 rebounds.

Logan Manska and Austin Dierks both scored 12 points for the Tigers and Jacob Torgerson had 6 points and 5 assists.

Chandler Erickson had finished with 8 points and 5 assists, and Lincoln Berget had 6 points and a team-high 8 boards for MCA, which improved to 4-1 overall.

LQPV’s Dylan Erickson scored a game-high 23 points and he also had 2 assists and a couple of steals.
