Boys basketball roundup: Blackjacks beat Minneota, Michael Lee goes over 1,000 points

DAWSON — Michael Lee scored 40 points and went over 1,000 for his career, and Dawson-Boyd edged Minneota 81-76 on Tuesday in a Camden Conference game.

The Camden North-leading Blackjacks, one of three undefeated teams left in the state, improved to 12-0 in conference and 15-0 overall.

Michael Lee notched the double-double with 21 rebounds, and also had 2 steals.

Joey Lee collected 20 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists, and Kyler Collins had 6 points and 7 boards.

Dawson-Boyd next plays Friday at Central Minnesota Christian.

Canby cruised to its 14th win of the season after shooting over 50 percent from the field and owning a 45-22 advantage in rebounds. Four players scored in double figures for the visiting Lancers with Josh Gallegos pacing the attack with 17 points.

The Wolverines put up a season-high 83 points Tuesday to snap a 7-game losing streak that saw them average only 55 points a game. MACCRAY (6-4, 7-10) shot 58 percent from the field while the visiting Lakers were only 23-for-63 (37 percent) from the floor.

Bailey Boike had 24 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists, Carter Asche 20 points and 12 rebounds, Tyler Moffenbier 14 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals, and Jacob Aviles 10 points, 8 assists and 4 steals for MACCRAY.

Dean Schroeder also pocketed 6 rebounds for the Wolverines, who outscored Lakeview 44-27 in the second half.

The hometown Wildcats raced to a 25-10 lead with 8:10 left in the first half and overcame a rough shooting night from the floor (35 percent) to pick up their 10th win of the season.

Offsetting the poor field goal shooting was going 19-for-25 from the free throw line and owning a 41-24 advantage in rebounds. Brett Olson’s 16 points and Ethan Bohlsen with another 10 paced a balanced scoring attack for NLS.

Shane Zylstra led the team with 10 rebounds — Nick Kester (9) and Bohlsen (8) combined for 17 more — and Ryan Vraa added 4 assists and 4 steals. Tyson Gislason also dished out 4 assists.

Alex Forsberg and Aaron Ahrndt scored 12 points each and Jacob Goff another 10 for the Braves (9-9). Zach Jensen and Ryan Hampton both pulled in 7 rebounds.
