Boys basketball roundup: Dragons burn GSL

GLENCOE — Zach Whitchurch and Riley Pater both scored 18 points and Zach Kinny notched a double-double with 11 points and 10 assists in Litchfield’s 77-53 Wright County Conference victory Tuesday.

Whitchurch hit five 3-point shots and had 6 rebounds and Pater also had a  game-high 9 boards.

Dylan Koll and Cameron Sundmark both scored 12 points for the Dragons, who improved to 9-2 in the league and 16-5 overall.

New London-Spicer held off a 37-point second half by Dassel-Cokato to deny the Chargers their first win of the season.

The Wildcats (6-6, 11-12) led 33-21 at the half.

Brett Olson scored 18 points and grabbed 7 rebounds for NLS, and Joey Dreier double-doubled with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Wildcats next play Thursday against Hutchinson in New London.

Minnewaska was nearly perfect from the free throw line and Austin Ostrander scored 20 points to help beat Paynesville.

The Lakers (7-8, 10-12) shot 21 of 22 from the line, including 7 of 7 from Austin Giese and 6 of 6 from Jayden Beecher.

Giese and Beecher each finished with 14 points.

Brandan Schleper scored a game-high 23 points for Paynesville (2-12, 2-19).

The Bulldogs next play Friday when they host Yellow Medicine East.

Alec Koster scored 22 points to lead Redwood Valley to a non-conference win at Montevideo on Tuesday.

The Cardinals also got 12 points each from Thane Widmer and Steven Runkel and 11 points from Joe Smith.

Monte’s Ryan Maroney hit four 3-point shots and finished with 16 points and Troy Diggins had 10 points and a game-high 9 rebounds.

The T-Hawks play next against Morris/Chokio-Alberta at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Montevideo.
