Boys basketball roundup: Warriors clip MACCRAY

CLARA CITY — BOLD hit 10 3-point shots and got to the free throw line consistently against MACCRAY on Monday and it added up to a 61-57 Warriors victory.

Nick Kubesh hit six 3-pointers and finished with 25 points, along with 7 rebounds and a couple of steals.

Trent Athmann scored 12 points, picked off 6 boards and had 7 assists.

The Warriors shot 10 of 22 from beyond the arc and hit 15 of 19 free throws compared to the Wolverines’ 2-of-14 3-point shooting and 3-of-5 foul shooting.

MACCRAY had three players score in double figures, led by Carter Asche with 17 points. He also had 13 rebounds and blocked 4 shots.

Bailey Boike finished with 16 points and Tyler Moffenbier had 14 points and 6 rebounds.

MACCRAY play at Minneota/Lincoln HI at 7:30 p.m. today.

GROVE CITY — Taylor Larson scored 35 points and Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City held off Morris/Chokio-Alberta 85-77 on Monday.

The Falcons (5-2, 11-3) went on a 10-2 run with 7 minutes remaining to open up a 12-point lead to put the game away.

They shot 13-for-14 from the field in the second half and 8-for-8 in the last 1:40. 

The Tigers’ duo of Eric Staebler (30 points, 15 rebounds) and Noah Grove (23 points) kept them in the game into the second half.

David Kinzler added 22 points and 4 steals for ACGC, and Adam Johnson had 6 points and 7 rebounds.

ACGC next plays Thursday at Benson, at MCA hosts Melrose on Friday.
