CLARA CITY — The MACCRAY Wolverines didn’t have an easy time with Central Minnesota Christian on Friday night.

The Wolverines offense never really got into gear but with the aid of free throws (11 of 16) the home team pulled out a 45-40 against their neighborhood rival.

MACCRAY led 21-16 at halftime but CMCS got up by two with about 7 minutes left but MACCRAY pulled ahead again.

Both teams made 17 field goals but the Bluejays go to the free-throw line only once.

Carter Asche and Taylor Thissen each came away with 16 points for the winners and combined for 17 rebounds.

Grant Hoekstra sank 3 of the Bluejays’ 6 three-pointers and finished with 15 points.

The Wolverines play Lac qui Parle Valley at 2 p.m. in Renville today, part of the four-game Camden West challenge. Section seeding is Wednesday.

Dawson-Boyd trounced Lakeview and held onto a first-place tie with MACCRAY in the Camden North.

Joey Lee scored 23 points with 11 rebounds and 6 steals.

Nathaniel Huot collected 16 points and hit 4 treys, and Michael Lee had 15 points and 8 rebounds.

The Blackjacks (11-3, 17-4) will play at the Camden West Challenge today in Renville.

Renville County West notched its third win of the season with an 83-21 trouncing of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.

Mitch Treml scored 36 points and 11 rebounds for the Jaguars (2-13, 3-19), and Ian Engstrom added 17 points and 8 rebounds.

RCW will play Red Rock Central today, and KMS faces Yellow Medicine East today. Both games will be played in Renville at the Camden West Central Challenge.

Scottie Stone couldn’t miss; the tall senior guard made 6 of 8 two-pointers and 6 of 11 from the arc to finish with 33 points.

Isaac Sawyer, also a guard, finished with 31.

Minnewaska, which trailed 51-26 by halftime, did made 9 of 22 from the arc. Jake Amundson scored 15 for the Lakers.

Colin Ose racked up 35 points to help Benson clip Montevideo 68-60.

Ose and Jacob Goff (16 points) accounted for 51 of the Braves’ points, and Goff nabbed 8 rebounds.

The Braves trailed 55-50 with 4 minutes remaining, but finished with an 18-5 run to take the win.

Matt Ahrndt left 1 minute into the game with a knee injury and didn’t return.

Troy Diggins scored 19 for the T-Hawks (7-6, 9-12), and Ryan Maroney had 17 points and 6 rebounds.

The Braves next play when they host Morris/Chokio-Alberta on Tuesday, and Montevideo will host Redwood Valley on Tuesday.

A day after upsetting Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, Paynesville couldn’t follow it up, falling to Holdingford 60-50.

Cody Schwinghammer and Matt Vasilj each scored 13 points for the Huskers (5-15).

The Bulldogs led 27-23 at the half, but surrendered 37 to Holdingford in the second half.
