Boys Basketball: Thunder Hawks, Warriors win in 3AA

MONTEVIDEO -- Montevideo and BOLD both won Section 3AA North Sub-Section playoff games on Saturday.

Montevideo defeated Lac qui Parle Valley 73-29 while BOLD downed Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 53-49. Yellow Medicine East fell to Lake Crystal-Wellcome 83-58, and Redwood Valley had little trouble with Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, winning 73-34.

Lake Crystal-Wellcome (21-6) plays Monte (21-5) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and BOLD (14-10) and Redwood Valley (24-1) meet at 6 p.m. Thursday. The site for the two games is still being determined.

Against LQPV, Montevideo's Jake Douglas scored 18 points and also had 4 rebounds and 5 steals. Brett Bergeson scored a game-high 21 points and Colton Vien added 13 points and Austin Hoehne 4 points and 6 rebounds.

LQPV's Jordan Brehmer scored 7 points and Eric Smith had 6 points and 8 rebounds.

Lake Crystal-WM 83 YME 58

Yellow Medicine East kept pace with Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial in the first half, but got trounced for 50 points in the second half and lost 83-58 in the Section 3AA tournament Saturday.

Devon Dyrdahl led the Sting (8-15) with 16 points and 6 rebounds.

Elliot Carmany had 12 points and Adam Savariego put up 9 points, 5 assists and 5 steals.

Ryan Reishus added 7 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
