WACONIA -- Behind a 29 point effort from Alex Schmitt, the Waconia Wildcats dealt Litchfield its first Wright County Conference loss 62-56 on Friday.

In a tight game from start to finish, the Dragons (10-1, 16-3) nudged in front 53-52 with 3:00 left but shortly after that Mitch Wollin fouled out and the offense dried up.

The 6-foot-3 senior forward went out with 24 points and 7 rebounds.

The Wildcats (9-2, 14-6) stay in second place a game out of first. They cashed in at the free-throw line plunking 23 of 29 chances.

Riley Pater with 11 and Zach Kinney with 8 followed Wollin in the scoring column. The Dragons were hot from the field making 20 of 35 (57 percent).
