Boys Basketball: Waska edges Monte to keep pace in WC South

GLENWOOD -- Ryan Kleven's jumper from inside the three-point line beat the buzzer and gave Minnewaska a 59-58 win over Montevideo in a West Central South Conference boys basketball battle for second place Thursday.

Kleven received the inbounds pass with about 2.5 seconds left, then dribbled to inside the top of the key and banked in the game-winner. It was his only points of the game.

Montevideo had taken a 58-57 lead on Colton Vien's jumper in the lane with five seconds left.

The Lakers (6-2, 7-5) take over second place in the conference alone, trailing Morris/Chokio-Alberta (8-0, 13-0). The Thunder Hawks (6-2, 7-5) fall to third place.

Shane Bosek and Ben Peters each posted a double-double to lead Minnewaska. Bosek had 17 points and 13 rebounds and Peters collected 17 points and 10 boards.

Brett Bergeson sank five 3-pointers and scored 19 points to pace Montevideo. Ryan Boike had 12 points and Vien 11.
