GRANITE FALLS -- Dyland Hempel netted 17 points and Kenton Johnson hooked 13 rebounds Thursday to help Yellow Medicine East snap its three-game losing streak by clipping BOLD 73-62 in the West Central South Conference.

The Sting (4-3, 9-6) also got 16 points from Casey Luepke and 13 points from Shawn Neu.

Jacob Brustuen had 17 points, Bryce Steffel 13 and Benjamin Saunders 10 for BOLD (1-6, 2-13).

Morris saw a 10-point first-half lead dwindle to two by halftime, then held a two-point advantage with 2½ minutes left in the game before pulling away.

Taylor Witt paced the Tigers with 26 points. Andy Lembcke added 11 points. The duo had eight rebounds each.

Adam Paulson led the Eagles with 16 points, followed by Brady VanderVelde with 14 and R.J. Strand with 13.

Daniel Fragodt poured in 25 points for Benson, followed closely Joey Fragodt with 19 and Tyler Guest and Aaron Hagen 17 each. Joey Fragodt also had nine assists.

Michael Martin, the area scoring lead by fractions of a point ovr Daniel Fragodt, also scored 25 points to lead the host team. Micah Nordin followede with 16 while Justin Schroeder supplied 12 poihnts, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Jesse McCann added in 11 points.
