Boys Golf: Benson/KMS wins by 1 stroke in South opener

OLIVIA -- Benson/KMS had three golfers card a 41 to edge BOLD and Montevideo by one stroke Thursday at the Olivia Golf Club in the first West Central South Conference meet of the season.
Brody Gimberlin, Zach Maurer and Nathan Hawley each tied for fourth place with four other individuals to pace the Braves to a 165. Scott Rauenhorst claimed co-medalist honors for BOLD with a 39, but Benson's fourth-lowest score was a 42 (Jordan Burns) compared to a 43 for Montevideo and a 44 for BOLD.
Taylor Larson also had a 39 to lead Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City. Montevideo was paced by Philip Ward's third-place round of 40.
Granite Falls next Thursday hosts the next conference meet.
