Boys Golf: Willmar, Alexandria tie for 1st in CLC meet
SARTELL -- The Willmar Cardinals tied with Alexandria for first place in the boys Central Lakes Conference golf meet held Monday at Blackberry Ridge Golf Club.
Both teams shot 319. The top four teams were separated by two strokes with Fergus Falls shooting 320 and the host Sabres 321.
Tony Kallevig and Hunter Schneider each fired a 79 for Willmar. Matt Suedbeck added an 80 and Cody Magnuson an 81.
Eric Boysen of St. Cloud Apollo was medalist with a one-under 71.
"I can't remember the last time we won a conference meet or tied for it," said Willmar coach Dave Ellwood. "It's been a very long time."
Willmar will host the next Central Lakes Conference meet, on Thursday at Eagle Creek. With three meets left, the Cardinals are in third place, trailing first-place Alexandria by 1½ points.
