Assistant coach Craig McKechney is guiding the team this week, reports Lyle Diekmann for the Litchfield Independent Review. McKechney was the LDC head coach from 1998-2002. Olson was hired in 2003.

Olson and his sons were injured in a car accident returning from Minneapolis on Jan. 3. Olson received leg injuries and is using a wheelchair to get about. First-grader Ty remains in the ICU but is making steady progress, according to the CaringBridge page. Third-grader Braden got out of the ICU Monday but remains hospitalized.

“Everybody who frequents that arena knows who Ty and Braden are, that’s for sure,” McKechney said. “Those kids are a big part of youth hockey and the high school team …. They certainly will be missed by everybody.”
