Boys hockey: River Lakes blanks Prairie Centre

PAYNESVILLE -- Jake Herges scored twice in the third period and River Lakes took its season opener over Prairie Centre 3-0 in a non-conference game Tuesday in Paynesville.

Prairie Centre goalie Clay Deters held the Stars scoreless until 8:50 in the third period when Herges put one in with an assist from Matt Prozinski.

Austin Stone scored for the Stars 3 minutes later for a 2-0 lead, and Herges scored his second goal at 12:44.

River Lakes senior goalie Chris Skluzacek was 23-for-23 in save attempts.
