ROSEAU — River Lakes didn’t bow to top seed Roseau on the Rams’ own rink Tuesday night.

The No. 8-seed Stars took it to the third-period horn losing 4-3 to the No. 1 seed in the Section 8AA quarters.

Roseau grabbed a 2-0 lead 47 seconds into the second frame on a pair of goals by Alex Halstengard. Matt Prozinski at 4:33 put the Stars on the board and later Connor Beltz scored to close the middle stanza with the visitors down 3-2.

Down 4-2, Eric Zimmer made it close again scoring at 9:17, assisted by Ethan Parsons.

River Lakes goalie Nicholas Skuzacek didn’t allow the Rams to pull away finishing with 43 saves in the Rams’ 47-19 advantage.

Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato outshot visiting Worthington 62-24 at the Civic Center in a 14-4 2A quarterfinal win in boys hockey Tuesday. Jared Peterson scored four goals, Ethan Niemala a hat trick and Carson Deal a pair of goals. Devin Lundin had three helpers. The Dragons are at No. 3 New Ulm on Thursday.

At the Benson Civic Center, Morris/Benson Area scored four times in the middle period to scrub Fairmont from the 3A field. Lincoln Pahl, Corey Storck, Taner Gimberlin and Bo Olson tallied in the second. The Storm play at unbeaten top-seed Luverne on Thursday in the semifinals.
