Boys Soccer: Vallecillo's late goal gives Cards 1-0 win

NEW ULM -- Christian Vallecillo scored the game's only goal on an assist from Jose Hernandez and the Willmar boys soccer team defeated New Ulm 1-0 on Saturday.

Cardinals goalie Charlie Trochlil faced only five shots in the shutout.

"The momentum swung back and forth," said Cardinals head coach Jeff Winter. "But in the end it was about 80 percent for us and 20 for them."

The Cardinals improved to 6-8 overall and 4-1 in Section 2A. The Cards play at Sauk Rapids at 5 p.m. Tuesday before closing the regular season on Senior Night at home against St. Cloud Apollo at 5 p.m. Thursday.
