Brainerd, near the top in the CLC standings, was propelled by Lenka Velinska, a female foreign exchange student from Slovakia.

"The girl has pencil arms and pencil legs, but she hits the ball harder than any boy I've ever seen," said Willmar head coach Jim Anderson. "Preston (Peterson) got a set from her in the first meeting and someone told me that was the first set she had lost all season. He played her very well today, but she is just a good player."

The Cardinals got their lone point from Issac Yoakum after the sophomore won 6-1, 6-1 at 4-singles.

Willmar is at Alexandria today and hosts Sartell in its final regular-season home match on Thursday. Willmar fell 4-3 to both teams earlier in the season.

"Both matches are winnable," said Anderson.
