Boys tennis: NLS, Lakers players eliminated in 6A
ST. JOSEPH -- Two New London-Spicer singles players and one Wildcats doubles team advanced to the Section 6A individual quarterfinals before falling on Tuesday at the College of St. Benedict.
Two Minnewaska singles players and two Lakers doubles team all lost in the opening round.
NLS' Tyler Halvorson won his opening match 6-0, 6-0 overMinnewaska's Joe Weaver but lost in the quarterfinals to Foley's Zach Kantor 6-4, 6-4.
The Wildcats' Cody Treptau defeated the Lakers' Colin Stumpf 6-0, 6-0 in the first round but fell to St. Cloud Cathedral's Jared Beumer 6-2, 6-1.
In the doubles tournament, NLS' Seth Nelson and Spencer Moller had a first-round bye before dropping a tough match to Sam Eherenman and Pat Latterell of Foley 6-3, 6-7, 6-3. Ehereman and Latterell advanced with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Minnewaska's Karl Thorfinnson and Austin Pauly.
The Lakers' Jake Pederson and Graydon Tanis lost in the first round to Josh Robak and Tomas Friebe of St. Cloud Cathedral.
