Boys tennis roundup: YME clips Benson

BENSON -- Yellow Medicine East advanced to the Section 3A semifinals with a 4-3 win over Benson on Monday.

The Sting got singles wins No. 2 David Nowacki, No. 3 Ethan Ator and No. 4 Carter Iverson.

The No. 1 doubles team of Clinton Repsher and Brandon Repsher also won for YME.

Vince Smolders got a win for Benson in No. 1 singles.

The Sting will play Luverne at noon today in Redwood Falls.

The No. 3-seeded Thunder Hawks cruised into the semifinals, where they will meet No. 2 Worthington today at 1:30 p.m. in Redwood Falls. The championship match is scheduled to follow at 3 p.m.

Montevideo lost just one set to the No. 7 Arrows and had Ryan Maroney win 6-0, 6-0 at 3-singles. Jesse Brace at No. 1 singles, Alex Carlbom at No. 2 singles and Walker Danielson/Darin Stevens at No. 1 doubles also won a set 6-0 in their wins.
