MORRIS -- Brian Curtis Brummond, 49, of Chokio died Wednesday at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris after a battle with cancer.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Morris.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to service at the church.
He was born Sept. 18, 1959, in Breckenridge to Curtis and Elizabeth (Boldt) Brummond. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1978 and attended Brown Institute in Minneapolis, graduating in 1979 with a degree in radio broadcasting.
He married Diana Friederichs on Aug. 16, 1980, in Foxhome. He worked as a radio announcer in a number of communities, including Moorhead, Glyndon, Mayville, N.D., Redwood Falls and then Morris in 1995. He received a broadcasting award from the North Dakota Coaches Association in 1991. He worked for KMRS/KKOK on the morning radio show and as the sports director. In 2000, he became the sports information director for the University of Minnesota, Morris, where he continued to work until the time of his death. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, where he served as a lector and a Eucharistic minister.
He is survived by his wife; four children: Tony Brummond of Alexandria, Josh (and fiancée Karla) Brummond of Alexandria, Stephanie (and Ben) Wolden of Fergus Falls and Mary (and Cole) Swenson of Morris; three grandchildren; his mother of Breckenridge; and one brother: Scott (and Liz) Brummond of Raleigh, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.
