Bruce A. Schendel March 8, 1947 - July 7, 2009
WILLMAR -- Bruce Allen Schendel, 62, of Willmar, formerly of Danube, died Tuesday at St. Cloud Hospital.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Willmar. Burial will be at a later date in Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Danube. Memorials are preferred.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church and one hour before the service at the church. Arrangements are by Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville.
He was born March 8, 1947, in Redwood Falls to Glenard and Luella (Menz) Schendel. He graduated from Danube High School in 1965 and continued his education at Mankato State University.
He married Sharon Wallert on Feb. 24, 1968, in Danube. They lived in the Minneapolis area until moving back to Danube. They owned and operated the Aquarius Café in Danube from 1976 until 1998. Since 1998, he worked as a chef at The Oaks in Willmar. He was a member of the Lions Club, the Danube Area Action Club, served in the National Guard, was a member of the American Legion, taught Sunday school and was a member of the Danube and Willmar Methodist churches.
He is survived by his wife, children: Steve (and Sheila) Schendel of Burnsville and Andrea (and Jeff) Zurn of Willmar; five grandchildren; and his brother: Neil (and Kim) of Willmar.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather: Almond Schroeder; and daughter: Kathy Jo.
