Burning ban declared for Renville County

OLIVIA - A burning ban in place in Renville County.

Because of the "extremely dry conditions, low relative humidity and no forecasted rain the near future and predicted windy days ahead" Sheriff Scott Hable issued the burning ban Wednesday afternoon.

The ban in Renville County will remain in place until further notice, according to Hable, adding that conditions for burning will continue to be closely monitored.

During the burning ban, no open fires or running fires may take place.

Residents who have burning permits will be unable to activate them.

When the ban is lifted, current burning permits will again be honored and may be activated by calling Renville County Sheriff's Dispatch at (320) 523-1161.

Campfires will still be allowed during this ban, so long as those fires are in a container and are no more than 3-feet by 3-feet in size. Extra precautions should be taken with campfires, including always having extinguishing devices nearby.
