Otteson is Heartland Agency housing manager
WILLMAR -- Heartland Community Action Agency Inc. has recently promoted Rhonda Otteson to housing services manager.
Otteson's new responsibilities include coordinating a comprehensive intake process for housing services, coordinating the completion of housing services applications per program procedures, providing technical assistance to housing services staff, coordinating and monitoring housing services programs, budgeting, reporting and other duties as assigned.
Before she was appointed to this position, Otteson served as a foreclosure counselor and outreach worker. She has also worked with Heartland's Head Start and Energy Assistance programs and the Circles of Support project.
Otteson joined Heartland in 2003 and is working on her master's degree in advocacy and political leadership at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She lives in Willmar with her two daughters.
Heartland serves approximately 12,000 individuals in Kandiyohi, McLeod, Meeker and Renville counties.
Hovey joins Willmar Hearing Aid Center
WILLMAR -- Jerry Meinders, owner and hearing aid specialist at Willmar Hearing Aid Center, 1604 First St. S., announces that Lisa Hovey has joined the center as full-time receptionist. She resides in Atwater with her husband, Brian, and daughter.
Willmar Hearing Aid Center has been in business since 1988 and offers many brands of hearing instruments.
Magnuson heads Ridgewater Foundation
WILLMAR -- The Ridgewater College Foundation Board of Directors announces that Kelly Magnuson has been selected to fill the Foundation's executive director. She assumed her duties on Nov. 11.
The executive director is responsible for the supervision, direction and implementation of the scholarship program, initiatives and fundraising programs. Specific responsibilities include managing daily operations and designing and directing a comprehensive development plan and providing leadership and management to all college fundraising efforts.
Magnuson has a bachelor's degree in business administration from St. Cloud State University. She was appointed interim director in August and has served as foundation specialist since 2006. She was instrumental in implementing improved processes in scholarship program, financial accounting and database systems since 2006.
She worked two years as office administrator and seven years with law firms as senior legal assistant.
The Foundation awards approximately $200,000 in scholarships and $30,000 in program support annually.
Magnuson and her husband and three children live in Willmar.
Paul White, a financial representative with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans in Litchfield, recently received the Life & Health Masters award for superior performance in uncovering his clients' financial needs through the Thrivent Financial advisory process. To qualify for the award, White helped clients identify solutions that enable them to protect their future and improve their financial position.
