Wentzel joins Snap Fitness Benson

BENSON -- Nathan Wentzel has been hired by Snap Fitness Benson as personal trainer and will begin training club members and local residents immediately.

Wentzel is a 2003 graduate of KMS High School and a 2009 graduate of Alexandria Technical College where he majored in health and fitness. He received his National Academy of Sports Medicine Personal Training Certification in 2008. He and his wife, Taryn, live in Kerkhoven. Before joining Snap Fitness, he worked at Noonan Sports Specialists in Alexandria where he trained student athletes in group and individual settings to help them maintain and improve balance, stability, strength and overall athleticism.

Jim Lindahl, owner of Snap Fitness Benson, said Wentzel's background in sports specific training including college and high school athletes is very impressive and compliments the current team.

Veterinary technicians elect Marcus, Hemen

WILLMAR -- Karen Marcus and Julie Hemen of Ridgewater College have been nominated and elected to positions with the Minnesota Association of Veterinary Technicians.

Marcus has been elected and installed as the board president for two years of the 1,300-member Minnesota Association of Veterinary Technicians.

Hemen is the new association representative for two years from the MAVT to their national organization, the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America, which is composed of U.S. and Canadian veterinary technicians.

Going Places

* Teri Frass, graphic designer at Rambow Inc. of New London, recently taught a seminar on the subject of "Smart Art'' at the Decorated Apparel Expo in Minneapolis. The expo is the embroidery and screen print industry's top-rated regional trade show with hundreds of attendees visiting over three days. Frass has been in the decorated apparel industry since 1983 and has worked at Rambow since 2005. Rambow specializes in screen print, embroidery, promo products and online solutions.

* Gary Thompson, owner of Builders Outlet in Willmar and developer of My Project Estimator software, conducted this past winter a two-day seminar for independent retail lumber yards on project estimating in Sioux Falls, St. Paul and Rapid City. He has begun his teaching career with Lumber Tech Group, a unit of the Northwestern Lumber Association, a trade organization headquartered in Minneapolis, which represents suppliers and retailers in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.


* Jonathan Kreps, CEO of J.D. Kreps Financial Group, 309 Lakeland Dr. in Willmar, has completed the requirements needed to be a Certified Financial Planner practitioner, which is the recognized standard of excellence for personal financial planning. A CFP has extensive knowledge of estate planning, tax planning, retirement planning, investments and protecting one's assets. Kreps graduated from Willmar High School and holds a degree in finance from St. Cloud State University. He started J.D. Kreps Financial Group in 1999.


Networking program is April 2

WILLMAR -- SagePresence "Winning Presence for Make-or-Break Moments'' will hold a program on networking for people to hate to network from 9:30 to noon April 2 at North American State Bank in Willmar. The program is sponsored by Ridgewater College of Willmar. Participants will learn the secrets of forging valuable, professional relationships quickly and easily, an experience of top-notch networking, and the tools needed to network with anyone, anywhere.

The cost is $49 and the registration deadline is three days before the event.
