Co-op hires Bonk as speech pathologist

WILLMAR -- Lisa Bonk was recently hired at the Southwest/West Central Service Cooperative as a speech language pathologist.

She will evaluate, diagnose and treat speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages.

She will be working in the BOLD and ACGC school districts. She previously worked as a speech language pathologist in the Osseo School District.

While at Osseo, she worked part-time with the Park Nicollet Alexander Center in Eden Prairie and KidSpeak, Ltd., of Maple Grove. She also worked for Willmar Public Schools.

Bonk has a bachelor's degree degree from Minnesota State University-Moorhead, and an master's degree in communication sciences and disorders from the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Fairfax bank names Helgren president

FAIRFAX -- Frandsen Bank and Trust of Fairfax has hired Harlan Helgren of Jefferson, Iowa, as president. He had been market president of Peoples Trust & Savings Bank in Jefferson for the past nine years. He earned his bachelor's degree in ag education and his master's degree in animal production from Iowa State University.

The majority of Helgren's career has been spent in ag-business areas: college ag business instructor; farm manager and real estate agent; feed company sales and nutrition; and high school vo-ag teacher. Also, he owned and operated a crop insurance agency.

Helgren will fill the position held by Clyde Bratlie, who retired at the end of May.

He had worked at the Fairfax location for 20 years and was president for the last 10 years.

Helgren and his wife, Debi, will move from Jefferson to Fairfax. They have two grown daughters.

Rental property management class scheduled Oct. 27

WILLMAR -- Fundamentals of rental property management will be the topic of a class developed by the Minnesota Multi-Housing Association from 1 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 27 at Bremer Bank in Willmar.

The class will cover the nuts and bolts of property management, accepting applications, leases, licensing, and tenant/landlord responsibilities. The cost is $39 for MHA members and $59 for non-members.

The price includes booklet.
