New pediatrician joins ACMC

WILLMAR -- Affiliated Community Medical Centers announces KerriAnn Mahon, M.D., a specialist in pediatrics, will begin practicing at ACMC-Willmar in February. Mahon specializes in the care of infants, children and adolescents.

After receiving her bachelor's degree from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Mahon earned her medical degree in 2001 from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. She comes to ACMC from her current position at Immanuel St. Joseph's/Mayo Health System in Mankato.

Mahon's areas of special interest include well child care; newborn nursery; special care nursery; diagnosis and treatment of ADHD, depression and anxiety in older children and adolescents; caring for children with complex medical issues; and infant and early childhood mental health.

Mahon will join ACMC's team of pediatricians located at the ACMC-Willmar main clinic. ACMC operates 11 medical clinics in this region of the state.

Kerkhoven firm hires Donahue

KERKHOVEN -- S.L. Simon Engineering of Kerkhoven has recently hired Jan Donahue. She has extensive experience in the wind energy field. She will be working to establish relationships between local landowners and wind developers.

She has a solid technical background, having served as a secondary-level computer-aided design instructor, as Heron Lake Bioenergy Equity Drive coordinator as a Department of Defense and veterans events motivational speaker.

St. Cloud VA changes name

ST. CLOUD -- Effective immediately, the St. Cloud VA Medical Center is renamed the St. Cloud VA Health Care System.

The Department of Veterans Affairs continues to improve health care services to veterans. One change made over the past decade has been the evolution from hospital-based systems to outpatient-focused systems. The name change reflects the integration and expansion of medical services in multiple locations throughout central Minnesota.

In addition to the medical center in St. Cloud, the St. Cloud VA Health Care System operates three outpatient Clinics including one at 1025 13th St. N. in Montevideo.

Riley joins area insurance agency

SPICER -- Barb Riley has joined Pioneer Heritage Insurance LLC. Riley, who has attained her certified insurance counselor professional designation, is a fully licensed agent and is working out of the Pennock and Raymond offices, located in the Heritage Bank Building.

She has 20 years of experience and will be selling all lines of insurance, including farm and crop insurance. She lives in Kerkhoven with her husband, Dwayne.

Pioneer Heritage Insurance is an independent insurance agency with offices in Spicer, Willmar, Pennock and Raymond.

Certification

Lynda Hauge, human resources director at United FCS in Willmar, recently earned certification as a senior professional in human resources. The certification from the HR Certification Institute signifies that Hauge possesses the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human resource management necessary to pass a rigorous examination demonstrating a mastery of the field. To become certified, an applicant must pass a comprehensive examination and demonstrate a strong background of professional human resource experience. The Institute is the credentialing body for human resource professionals and is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management.

Going Places

Richard and Gladie Hagen of Olivia attended the American Farm Bureau Federation annual meeting Jan. 8-12 in Atlanta, Ga. Richard was awarded the trip after receiving the Minnesota Farm Bureau Foundation Agriculture Communicator of the Year Award at the Minnesota Farm Bureau annual meeting in November. He is a writer for The Land. Nearly 60 Farm Bureau members from Minnesota were among more than 5,000 Farm Bureau members representing each state and Puerto Rico at the American Farm Bureau Federation annual meeting. Participated attended workshops and seminars and set policies for the upcoming year.
