Logan joins Penney's Salon

WILLMAR -- Robyn Logan, formerly with Robyn's Nest salon of the New London-Spicer area, has joined the team at the J.C. Penney Salon at the Kandi Mall in Willmar.

Logan has 27 years of experience. She is available for appointments by calling 320-231-2017.

Accountants elect Aamot to board

WILLMAR -- Brett Aamot of Willmar has been elected to the board of the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has been a society member for 24 years and served on committees and task forces, including his 2009 appointed role on the Leadership Cabinet.

Aamot is managing partner at Conway, Deuth & Schmiesing of Willmar and has been with the firm since it was founded in 1985. He obtained his CPA designation in 1985, became a partner in 1989 and managing partner in 2000.

His practice emphasis is in a variety of accounting and tax areas, but concentrates on auditing and small business consulting. He was listed in The Twin Cities Monthly and Minnesota Law and Politics as a "Super CPA'' in 2001 and 2002.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce. He is active in local civic organizations and activities, recently serving as the 2009-2010 campaign chair for the United Way of West Central Minnesota. He is a director on the Green Lake Sanitary Sewer and Water District board and is a member of the Willmar High School football coaching staff.

He and his wife, Kathy, live in Willmar.

* Carnie Allex, head of the pharmacy at Rice Memorial Hospital, was one of 31 pharmacists selected nationwide to participate in the 2011 Pharmacy Leadership Institute sponsored by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Research and Education Foundation. The executive pharmacy educational program took place April 10-15.

* Roxie Covert of Rice Memorial Hospital was recently selected to attend an item writing workshop offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in Washington, D.C.

Item writers are responsible for writing new test items for the American Nurses Credentialing Center cardiac/vascular certification exam. Covert is a board-certified registered nurse in cardiac/vascular nursing through the credentialing center.


Douglas County Hospital and Heartland Orthopedic Specialists in Alexandria were rated the No. 1 joint replacement provider in Minnesota in 2011 by CareChex, surpassing all other hospitals in the state. Douglas County Hospital was also named as a top 100 hospital in the nation for joint replacements by CareChex, an independent health care rating service.

Hospitals and institutions that receive the CareChex award provide excellent care in clinical areas and orthopedic procedures. Hospitals in the top 100 must display superior joint replacement care and as well as safety.

The hospital also received the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacements, a recognition that is awarded to hip and knee replacement providers who have established an outstanding record of orthopedic care.

Douglas County Hospital works with area orthopedists to provide care throughout west central Minnesota.
