Western Minnesota Legal Services provides professional civil legal help to Minnesotans who traditionally lack access to the American justice system. These groups generally include low-income populations, seniors and people with disabilities.

Welch's private practice concentrates on the areas of employment law and social security matters.

Business Award

United Prairie Bank of Spicer has been honored with being selected as a "Star Originator."

United Prairie was one of only five banks selected for this year's award. United Prairie received the award because of the quality of the mortgage files it provided as a correspondent bank in the Merchants Bank Correspondent Network.

"This award says a lot about the quality of mortgage loans that United Prairie originates, and the quality of the customers who do business with United Prairie," said Merchants Correspondent Mortgage Account Executive Terri Evans who noted that the size of the Merchants' network helps to keep rates low for the potential borrowers who work with banks like United Prairie.

The award was given by Merchants Bank as a way of recognizing the top banks in its mortgage correspondent network of 220 banks and their branches across seven states. As a Star Originator, United Prairie received a plaque from Merchants. Merchants Bank is headquartered in Winona.
