Bethesda hires fitness club director

WILLMAR -- Melissa Neal has been hired as the director of Club Bethesda located in the Wellness Center at Bethesda Health and Housing, 901 Willmar Ave. S.E., in Willmar.

Neal grew up on a farm near Murdock and graduated from KMS High School in 2006. She graduated from the Minnesota State University at Mankato in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in community health. She is a certified fitness instructor.

Farmer/Realtor joins Heller Group

OLIVIA -- Brian Fernholz, family farmer and licensed Realtor in the Madison area, has joined the Heller Group, 1-Stop Realty Inc., in Olivia.

Fernholz has 10 years experience in farming and six years in real estate. He is a licensed crop insurance specialist and has been selling crop insurance since 2005. He is a former conservation easement technician for the Department of Natural Resources.

He is a 1994 graduate of Lac qui Parle Valley High School and a 1998 Hamline University graduate with a major in anthropology and a minor in sociology.

CitiFinancial is now OneMain Financial

WILLMAR -- CitiFinancial of Willmar is now called OneMain Financial, effective July 1.

The name change will not impact the products and services of the business, according to branch manager Claire Verch. "The new name better fits who we are and what we do," she said.

An open house will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at 1415 S. First Street, Suite 2. The celebration event is free and open to the public.

Essentials of leasing class July 14 in Willmar

WILLMAR -- The Minnesota Multi Housing Association will hold a class on the essentials of leasing from 1 to 4 p.m. July 14 at Bremer Bank in Willmar. The cost is $39 for association members and $59 for non-members.

Participants will learn practical and effective strategies for every step of the sales process from beginning to end. The workshop will help participants brush up on their leasing and closing skills and provide valuable tips.

Business awards

Dick Plahn of Willmar has received the Minnesota School Bus Operators Association Lifetime Achievement Award.

Plahn is the former owner of Willmar Bus Service. He began his career in the school bus industry in 1972 at Willmar Bus Service. He owned the business from 1986 to 2004.

Paul White of Litchfield, a financial consultant with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, has earned membership in the 2011 Million Dollar Table. White qualified for the honor based on sales excellence, outstanding client service, ethical conduct and professional knowledge. The Million Dollar Round Table is an international, independent association of leading life insurance and financial services professionals.
