AMPI Dawson plant wins Dairy Expo prize
DAWSON -- Colby Jack cheese produced at the Associated Milk Producers Inc. plant in Dawson was among cheese entries from three AMPI plants that tallied big wins in the 2011 World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Products Contest.
The Cheddar cheese entry from the AMPI plant in Blair, Wis., and the American cheese entry from the AMPI plant in Portage, Wis., also earned the highest marks in their respective categories.
The AMPI entries were judged among the best from a record field of 705 entries representing all types of dairy products made by companies from across the United States.
"Winning cheese is the result of quality milk from our members' farms and diligent employees at each of the plant locations," AMPI President and CEO Ed Welch said. "This year's contest results are particularly impressive given the size of the competition and the popular categories in which AMPI placed first."
