Winters is new HR directorfor Bethesda

WILLMAR -- Janelle Winters is the new human resources director at Bethesda Health and Housing of Willmar. She brings three years of human resources experience to the position.

She has a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in human resources from Central Michigan University.

She is originally from Michigan and has been living in Minnesota for one year.

Great Clips has new location

WILLMAR -- Great Clips of Willmar has moved to 2323 First St. S., Suite 101, in the Best Buy strip mall in Willmar.

Owner Cynthia Benjamin says the new location has a relaxed, warm and comfortable atmosphere which includes wood flooring, warm colors, updated design and new exterior signage.

All services, which include haircut and perms on walk-in basis only with no appointment needed, continue with the same low prices.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Phone is 320-231-2040.

Cancer liaison doctor appointed

WILLMAR -- Dr. J. Michael Ryan of Willmar recently received a three-year appointment as cancer liaison physician for the cancer program at Rice Memorial Hospital.

Cancer liaison physicians are an integral part of cancer programs accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

Ryan's appointment places him among a national network of more than 1,600 volunteer physicians who are responsible for providing leadership and direction to establish, maintain and support their facility's cancer program.

Ryan is an oncologist at Affiliated Community Medical Centers and is on the multidisciplinary cancer committee at Rice Memorial Hospital.

Butler graduates Patrol Academy

BROOKLYN CENTER -- Anthony Butler, 34, of Clara City graduated from the Minnesota State Patrol Training Academy on April 3 at a ceremony at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center -- the site of the first State Patrol Academy in 1929. Butler was one of 72 graduates.

This is Butler's first job in law enforcement. He received an associate degree from Ridgewater College in Willmar. He and his wife, Amanda, have three children.

The academy is a 12-week program that teaches candidates the skills they need to become state troopers.

"These new troopers have many challenges ahead in their new careers,'' said Patrol Chief Col. Mark Dunaski. "Our academy prepares them to handle stressful situations and positively impact road safety.''

Business Awards

* Shawn Bohlsen, vice president and residential real estate loan officer for Bremer Financial Services in Willmar, has been named to the Bremer Platinum Club. The award is given to Bremer's top real estate lenders who consistently perform at high levels and are committed to exceeding client expectations. Bohlsen has 12 years of banking experience, including nine years working in the mortgage industry.

* Jason Uecker, field agent for Knights of Columbus, Mathern Agency in western Minnesota, received the award for agent of the month for top insurance sales production for the month of March. Uecker serves KC members in Willmar, Litchfield, New London, Spicer, Clara City and Kandiyohi and surrounding areas for the Knights of Columbus Agency Department.

*West Central Roofing Contractors of Willmar has been named to the Century Club by Duro-Last Roofing Inc. of Saginaw, Mich., in recognition of West Central's outstanding achievement in quality workmanship, customer satisfaction and annual sales in excess of $100,000. West Central was honor during the 27th annual Duro-Last national sales seminar in January.
