Calm winds helping fight fire between Menahga and Park Rapids in north central Minn.

PARK RAPIDS, Minn. -- Calm winds were allowing 40-some fire departments to get control of a wildfire that has scorched more than 7,100 acres in three counties

“We’ll make a lot progress today,” said incident commander Mike Aultman of the Green Valley Fire that has burned 12 homes and 43 other buildings between Menahga and Park Rapids.
