ROCHESTER - Candace "Candee" Kay Meyer, 56, of Rochester MN, died Sunday, July 28, while on vacation in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

A time of remembrance and visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, from 6pm to 8pm, at Unity Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg, MN as well as Saturday, August 10, from 4 to 6pm at Church of the Savior, 971 16th St SE, Rochester MN.

Candee Meyer was born on March 25, 1957 in Willmar, Minnesota to Harry Jr and Katie (Gerdes) Meyer. She was Baptized and made profession of faith at Bunde Christian Reformed Church in Bunde MN. Candee attended Central Minnesota Christian School in Prinsburg, Minnesota, graduating in 1975. After graduation, Candee worked for the Willmar State Hospital, Lutheran Social Services, and then owned and operated her own home for mentally and physically handicapped indivuiduals. In 2008, Candee sold her business and retired moving to Rochester Minnesota where she spent the last 5 years volunteering her time at her church, Church of the Savior, where she was head cook for the Church dinner on Wednesday nights and sang tenor in the choir.

Candee is survived by 5 sisters: Char Groen of Prinsburg, Norma (and Harold) Groen or Renville, Diane (and Duane) Mulder of Renville, Cheryl (and Cal) Brouwer of Edgerton, and Lonie (and Wayne) Hillenbrand of Willmar; 2 brothers: Merlyn (and Delores) Meyer of Clara City, and Lee Meyer of Phoenix AZ; a brother-in-law: Phil (and Sheryl) Mulder of Prinsburg; her very good friend Roxanne "Roxie" Krosschell of Rochester; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: Charles Meyer; a sister: Laura Mulder; and 2 brother-in-laws: Clayton Negen and Alvin Groen.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials will be given to Gillette Children's Hospital.
