The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office received a call shortly before 2 a.m. of a vehicle in the water on 60th Avenue Northeast, east of North First Street in Dovre Township. The car, a 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora, was found submerged upside down in the lake. The vehicle had apparently been westbound on 60th Avenue.

After rescue attempts, authorities determined the driver had died from injuries sustained in the crash, the sheriff's department said.

The sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by its water safety patrol, the Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad, the Willmar Ambulance Service, Spicer Fire Department and Spicer First Responders.

The name of the victim has not been released yet. The sheriff's department said an investigation is pending.
