Update 11 a.m.
WILLMAR - A passenger car was driven off state Highway 40 in west Willmar before 7:30 a.m. this morning and ended up along the Willmar-to-Morris line of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway.
The car's driver and his two passengers were not seriously injured in the accident.
The driver apparently drove his car off Highway 40 at the intersection with U.S. Highway 12 in west Willmar, crossed the ditch, struck a tree and then continued northward until it reached the BNSF rail bed. The car then traveled westward along the rail bed for a short distance before finally stopping along the south side of the rail line.
A tow truck operator later drove the car off the rail bed before towing the car away.
